Default MRP and Whey Concentrate/Isolate opinions please

For new members wondering which of the huge range products available in these ranges thought a sticky discussion on the topic would be valuable.

IMO

Whey

ON gold standard for concentrate due to its superior isolate content for the price. http://www.cheapuksupplements.co.uk/...xProd=3&xSec=6

Bulk powders unflavoured if money is an issue. No better value around
http://www.bulkpowders.co.uk/product...1fd2c6cf2b1f8f

Dyamtize ISO 100 for isolate due to the price. http://www.cheapuksupplements.co.uk/...rod=208&xSec=6

MRP

Reflex Progen without a doubt http://www.discount-supplements.co.uk/eshop/mrps/reflex-progen-mrp-(box-of-20-sachets)-banana.asp

Progen is the latest meal replacement from Reflex Nutrition. It contains preferentially selected proteins to ensure un-beatable quality. A carefully chosen blend of cold processed, ultra filtered Micellar Casein, Whey Protein and Digezyme enzymes provides 40 grams of protein. For added benefit they ass Lactospore sporogene pro-biotics, the same type of pro-biotics often found in yoghurt and health drinks, but in a stable form.

For years now most meal replacements have used maltodextrin as a carbohydrate source, in fact previous formulations of Progen have used maltodextrin, but it has two major drawbacks. One it contains absolutely no fibre, and two it has a high glycemic index meaning that it raises blood sugar levels very quickly. Reflex Nutrition is the first sports nutrition company in the World to use a totally new low glycemic index "super food" called Activated Barley instead of maltodextrin.

The OFO-Method and Activated Barley.
Named after the Swedish inventor Owe Forsberg, the OFO-Method is a unique patented natural treatment, (via the exact application of different levels of pressure, humidity and temperature), of organic Barley that increases the energy level of barley whilst activating nutrients and dormant enzymes in a way that ensures optimal assimilation by the body. The result is Activated BarleyTM, a totally unique, low glycemic index super food that is rich in naturally occurring enzymes, vitamins, minerals, fibre, energy and protein. Each serving of Progen contains a carefully prepared blend of both Activated Barley & Scottish Organic Oats, perfect for sustaining energy levels between meals.

Why Organic?
Organic agriculture is a safe, sustainable farming system, producing healthy crops and livestock without damage to the environment.

It avoids the use of artificial chemical fertilisers and pesticides on the land, relying instead on developing a healthy, fertile soil and growing a mixture of crops. Organic is a term defined by law and all organic food production and processing is governed by a strict set of rules.

Back to the formula..
Progen does NOT contain your normal scattering of vitamins and minerals. Progen is totally unique in this respect. All the minerals are amino acid chelated for superior absoroption and the vitamins used are of the highest quality available. You''ll also find additional nutrients like Linumlife flaxseed extract, essential fatty acids, MSM, choline and patented Bioperine.

Awesome product. Most MRP's include a high maltodextrin content which causes an unfavourable insulin response resulting in potential excess apidose tissue storage. (Meaning **** I'm getting fat)

So you think that CNP's article defending the use of malrodextrin in their MRP was total and utter shite?

Ok - for the last time. Malto is dextrose polymers of VARYING length - hence different maltodextrin will be differently digestible BUT it's the low length polymers which are present that cause it's glycemic response (which is really high).

Moral of the story is that malto is crap - period.

Maltodextrin has been the industry standard for years and was never under tyhe hammer till now, to say its crap - period, is too severe in my opinion as it does have its good points too.

Remember just as CNP are defending it, Reflex are slating it and that is marketing too. If it was so bad why did Reflex use it for so long? At least CNP believe in it, Reflex used it thinking it was no good so what does that say about them?

YG you've printed basically an advert fot Reflex MRP, if they want to advertise on the board let them pay as others do if they don't say what you've got to say whithout marketing bullsh1t on their behalf.

Our MRP is £30 to board members, contains 30 servings, has the best amino acid profile on the market, contains OFO pre germinated barley and malto with 4 protein sources to create a proper time release formula. It also has more protein per serving and less carbs than Reflex.
OH, DID I MENTION ITS ONLY £30 FOR 30 SERVINGS TO BOARD MEMBERS? Now tell me whats awesome.

On your website it says £34.95.....So how do we get the discount if ordering from your site.
Is there any other discounts your offering to site memebers for your products on the website ie if you buy 3 tubs of protien etc.

Daz

Ok fair enough mate but its hardly liked I'm being paid by reflex which is why I titled this thread opinions. IMO this is the best MRP I have come across. The main print is only the ingredients. I'm just one man supporting a product I think is a good one. I'll gladly have a look at your MRP and give my opinion.

FYI maltodextrin is a multi-polymer sugar, it has a higher GI than glucose!!
