Default Maltodextrin- good or bad?

Is this stuff gonna encourage insulin spikes and pile on the pounds of fat?

Unsure if this is a simple sugar similar to sugar or if its actually a complex carb????

It has been a staple ingredient of mass builder products for years and only recently been getting bad press.

I use it in my post workout drinks, its very effective and not sickly sweet like glucose or dextrose powder.
