Erm - I'll keep it simple. Rest.

I used to play a lot of football at quite a high level & my shin splints were terrible. Stick to rowing machines, stationary bike etc if you have to do cardio.

I'd also ask your GP to refer you to a podiatrist. My podiatrist made me some insoles to put in all my shoes. A lot of shin split issues can be caused by posture problems believe it or not.

Anything that does'nt involve over flexing the anterior shin muslces will ease your suffering. If you do have to run or jump alot for any reason make sure you are wearing good trainers that are both light and well fitted. Its the raising the front of the foot during a stride and the the rapid, slamming down of the foot which causes Medial Tibial stress syndrome.Runners who strike heavily with the heel should look for shoes which provide ample rear foot cushioning. The way you run also has a large bearing on how much stress is put on the shin muscles.Learning to run with a degree of decent form will help.As will training the Anterior shin muscles to cope with greater stress.Healing will be an individual thing. The more you rest them the better.Anti inflammatories may help on the advise of your GP.Heres a Wiki link that tells you most of what you need to know about your condition,if you don't already.

i get the symptoms really bad if i use too much creatine - not sure of your situation but may be worth dropping it if ur using it.. also drugs like dbol that cause water retention can affect you in this way too...

yes sust will retain water - look into using nolva or arimidex with it to help combat against this if it will be a problem!

teh arginine and the kre will not help the shin splints - did you have them before taking these supps??

Just to be different/awkward I'm going to suggest you look into correct stretching

I had them bad when i first started running half-marathons . . . . rest seems to be the cure . . .

I take it you are skipping ! maybe try to stay on the ball of yer foot, and not skip too long.

Are you near a beach, ? take yer shoes off and paddle thru the water, it works for me . . . . but maybe its just superstition and i dont think theres a real-right cure.

Keep your weight down . . . doh ! wrong forum for that advice . . .

Keep yer shins warm when training. dont wear shorts, wear trackie bottoms.

The Wikipedia page aught to be good, i'll check that too

Also i recall running with cheap trainers was giving me a real "jolt" . . . . if you're running, you need the real deal, properly fitted running shoes.
