Default Cramp

Howdy!
Just a quick question, my training has been a bit off the past week as had a few things going on. Today is supposed to be my leg day however for some reason I was up twice in the night with cramp in my hamstring and calf. My question is, do u think i should still go and hammer my legs?

Thank u kindly......

Do you suffer with leg cramps in the night regularly Nath?I suffered with them for a few months quite severly in my 20's for some reason.I was told that you're likely to suffer from night cramps if you have low levels of magnesium, potassium, calcium and sodium,or a raised level of lactic acid. This has never been proven but many times ive heard that a Sodium deficiency is one of the main culprits. With regards to your leg session,it might actually do some good to get them pumped up and full of blood, thats JMO though.Take it steady if you do decide to go ahead.

Thanx Gazz. I used to suffer from night cramps but havent for a couple of years, coincidently they stopped around the same time i started training. I reckon u might be on to something tho, had quite a heavy weekend partying and i'm sure my mineral/nutrient levels were all over the show. Anyway, I didnt go to the gym just went for a swim and began trying to do some deep water work (was pretty tough as tghe pool was shallow) Anyway, gonna hammer the legs today instead. Thanx again Gazz.

this bit of advice isnt going to help with your leg sess todya but for a bit of help in the future. try taking a multi mineral supp just the bog standard one from holland and barrett. they really help to prevent you getting cramp, and start working right from your 1st tablet.

hope this helps

xx

I'm no expert, but I was told by a tennis coach that drinking more water helps stop getting muscle cramps at night, this might only be when you loosing alot of body fluid due to sweat but it did work for me in the summer. donno just a suggestion
