It could be a case of muscle memory ie the muscle ajusts faster to being worked because you used to train i have been training for a few years and i am not always sore but i know if i keep the workouts about an hour to hour and half and keep it intense weather i am sore or not its working.Try upping the intensity(shorter breaks) and see how you get on good luck

This may not be much help but I'd advise you to join another gym, there's no point going through the motions and slowing down reaching your goals because the gym doesn't have the facilities you really need or the staff to inspire, encourage and assist you to train in an effective and beneficial manner.

If you don't want to or can't change gym just do more reps until you can't manage any more and cut rest time between sets.
