Just a bit unsure about its long term effects, should I take a rest period now for a few weeks?. I dont believe ive been taking it correctly. How should i really be taking it considering that i have taking it for a long time in the past, currently i have stopped. On another note, is it essential to take whey protein before a work out, as i only take it after and before i sleep Appreciate the help |

The most-recommended times to take whey protein are as soon as you wake up and straight after a workout. It is not ideal before bed because it is a fast acting protein that will not see you through the 6 - 10 hours of sleep whereby you won't get any protein in. You could mix the whey with a pint of milk to help with this, or eat some meat before bed. Also, its not 'essential'. Many people get on fine with 'whole foods' only, and there is an argument for this: whole food equivalents will contain more calories than the powder equivalents, meaning that you might more easily make your dietary goals when trying to maintain a high calorie diet. PS, welcome to the site. Nick |
