Default complete newbie!

Hello all

I'm 24, 6'3 and 16.5 Stone, I'm looking to lose a lot of weight and build up some muscle.

Started in the gym about a week ago and am currently doing just over an hour of cardio every night when I get back from work.

I'm also doing 2 sets of 8 reps on various weight machines.

I'm currently taking 20mg eph when I get back from work, mainly to suppress my appetite as I usually eat far too many carbs when I get home from work. But it also helps a little with the cardio. The downside to this is that I am eating nothing after about 4pm till the next morning. This is not because of the eph, I am just more scared it will stay on if I eat too late!

After reading through the forums I have started to worry slightly because I am so determined to lose the weight fast that I might start losing muscle(I don't have much ops: ) as well, which I want to avoid as I really want to try and build it up too.

I really don't know where to start in regards to diet & frequency of exercise, any help with that and any other advice would be really appreciated!

pic of what I look like currently, sorry about the quality.

With the pic you have shown, (quality fine by the way) you really wanna be hitting the weights a bit more. If you do a search for garilla's beginner routine that will set you up with a good base to start off with.

The ephadrine not causing too many problems then? Except this diet thing looks a little funny to me, you should really be aiming to eat straight after your workout at the very least eat an orange thats great for after workout food. Try get in some carbohydrates as you will need the energy.

If I were you I would aim at doing weights 4 times a week with 45 mins cardio afterwards. Focusing on getting more repetitions perhaps to help you burn that fat off.

Splinter, The ephedrine is fine, I dont get any side effects. I can eat it on it if I really want to.
I will start eating something after workouts, I will do some reading to see whats good.

Also does it make a difference if I do cardio or weights first ?

Thanks for the weclome and advice!, Will read the threads linked

Do the cardio afterwards, you may find you will be too tired to do weights after cardio. But often its just about finding out what is best for you.

If you dont know weight exercises by the way.

...ideally cardio should be done on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and not combined with weight training...
