Default Basic Training Plan - Is this ok?

As I said, I am new to this sport, I used to do loads of cardio and have always been in shape, but I am now hooked on body building.

At the moment I am consentrating on building strength, using not great weights and using the following programme: -

Sunday: Tricepts & Upper Back

Monday: Bicepts & Chest

Tuesday: Lowerback, Delts/Shoulders & Calves

Wednesday: Remainding leg groups and extra work on abs and some owrk on forearms.

Thursdays: Cardio workout

Friday: & Saturday Rest.

I usually do abs and obliques etc on ever workout...

Once I have good gains, I shall increase weight and perhaps resort to covering more body parts in the week so that they are worked twice a week?

What ya think...?

Dave.

Training muscle groups twice a week is a big No No, especially as you get stronger, as you'll cause more damage to the muscle and they'll require longer to repair!

If your going to train your lower back seperatly you might want to train hamstrings on that day as well, most lower back exercises use your hamstrings, try Stiff legged Deadlifts :P Fantastic, I love em!

If you want strength, you will have to be using heavy weights!

Other than that looks good!

Oh I'd also recomend you train chest and Tri's together and then Back and Bi's

Cheers fellas, didnt even think about that, makes sense to train chest and tris together and bicepts and back another, also take on board the hamstring and lower bk training, cheers!
