Anything that does'nt involve over flexing the anterior shin muslces will ease your suffering. If you do have to run or jump alot for any reason make sure you are wearing good trainers that are both light and well fitted. Its the raising the front of the foot during a stride and the the rapid, slamming down of the foot which causes Medial Tibial stress syndrome.Runners who strike heavily with the heel should look for shoes which provide ample rear foot cushioning. The way you run also has a large bearing on how much stress is put on the shin muscles.Learning to run with a degree of decent form will help.As will training the Anterior shin muscles to cope with greater stress.Healing will be an individual thing. The more you rest them the better.Anti inflammatories may help on the advise of your GP.Heres a Wiki link that tells you most of what you need to know about your condition,if you don't already.
