There are lots of ways to skin a cat mate.
Lifting a weight with a rep cadence of 4/2/4 takes all momentum out of the lift, i.e , the weight doesnt fall to the ground. You resist against gravity. If your with me.
The same as lifting a weight, you dont use momentum. Its slow and controlled.
Many roads to rome, its just another variable you can add to your training.
