ive seen a lot of bodybuilder types come into gyms before and dish out advice(not saying anyones doing this here by the way) and 9 times out of 10 its been advice based on their own sport which really has no relevance in fighting, the lad listening thinks the fella must know his stuff as he "looks the part"...yet in reality the advisor wouldnt last 3 minutes on the mat...for example what battlehawk was actually asking about, making weight for a fight, is an extremely important part of a fight, which again, would have absolutely no relevance to how a bodybuilder would eat, train or make weight...so this being of such importance i personally think the fella would benefit more from asking people who have to do this regularly,as opposed to bodybuilders.
of course there is going to be examples where a bodybuilder has gone into other fields, same as a plasterer might end up a brickie etc...on the whole tho it still doesnt make sense to me to ask advice from people outside of your own sport, just ask successful or knowledgable people in your own sport...and this works both ways
lol.. this is great... as you say leglock... no problem here bud.. nowt taken the wrong way!

as youll notice from the thread... i was very cagey about giving out direct advice to battlehawk.. as i understand any advice needs to be geared dierctly toward his own individual perspective.. which is why i suggested someone who may be closer to him and maybe he visits that person so he could get tailored advice! - as i didnt want to have a negative effect on his performance by me being misinformed in any way!

how do you know a bodybuilder cant have experience of offering fighters advice tho?? ive given good and helpful advice to a number of fighters in the past... both who compete in it as a sport.. and those who just do it for fun in the toon at the weekends!! and the advcie has always helped!

in my experience many people from all sports (including fighters) will approach bodybuilders for nutrition advice as the advice we can give usually comes from experience rather than text books... and there are quite a few things we are aware of that you wont find in ANY text books!

in all honesty legock.. and please dont take this the wrong way... i think your making a few too many assumptions as to what we have/have not got to offer... i know you may have seen many "bodybuilders" come into gyms and start dishing out advice in the past...... in my experience you wont find many real bodybuilders doing this.... just the pretend ones who are usually fat fcuks!

also, the advisor wouldnt last 3 minutes on the mat?????? another example of making assumptions on things you are totally uninformed about im afraid mate!!!
