leglock u missed my point! i didnt say at all that animals fight for fun. and in actual fact there are many examples to which animals fight for pure survival, whereby the winner lives and the loser dies or runs, as simple as that! for example, a snake vs a crane (fundamental development of wing chun kung fu, also leads to snake kung fu and crane), a praying mantis fighting insect-eating animals (development of praying mantis kung fu), tiger killing its prey (development of tiger claw), the list just goes on.
the essence of kung fu came about from people (namely chinese monks) watching these animals fight and then gaining the principles to which led to victory, and so developed a fighting style from that animal, so adapting the human body to perform moves in that way.
Not only this, but they also looked into the weak points of the human body and found hundreds of ways of exploiting these.
u may at this point think i am chatting alot of crap.. however I am guessing you havent seen a practitioner of kung fu in action. Some of the moves are deadly, and believe i know as i have learned some already after 4 years. for example striking to the eye, striking to the throat with the aim of breaking the larynx or bursting the jugular vein, striking to the floating rib. again you may this is useless in the street but all i can say is that its not with personal experience
