Extreme University Testing and Development programme. We've decided after working on it for 18 months to run a partnership with Heriot Watt Universtity Sports Science dept which will have them test effectiveness of some of our current products and some revised formulas I have in my shiny head.
The plan is to use cyclists who will do a 20 minute warm up followed by a 10 min timed burst which will monitor the distance they cover over the months of testing. Some will have carbs only, some will have whey only some will have Build & Recover, we will measure muscularity, body fat, blood pressure, etc. They have a state of the art "Bod Pod" for measuiring body composition, so we'll find out how much lean tissue they gain.
The cyclists will be drug tested and so will the supplements to ensure no underhand measures to ensure results. We're using cyclists in part 1 because they use explosive power and sustained high cardio output as well, we need a study which will attract attention from all genre of sports which sadly I don't think we'd get that using bodybuilders.
I think we will be the only UK company to undertake a study such as this, everyone quotes anecdotal evidence but nobody can actually say after "using this product for 6 months these guys gained X amount of lean muscle tissue and their performance increased by ?%". Muscletech I think have done stuff like this in the past and possibly EAS but as far as I know that's it.
The study will run for 18 months and is costing mega bucks but I want to be able to say "Yes, our stuff is the business, here's some paperwork to prove it!".
The new formulas wil be in direct comparison to the current ones so will help me decide if the changes are for the better or not.
In study 1 the cyclists will have supps first thing in the morning and some pre workout, some post workout depending on the formula they are working with.
I know this study may not appeal to many bodybuilders who want to buy the cheapest thing availabe, but its to try and attract the attention of rugby players, athletes, swimmers, cyclists, etc who all worry about failing drug tests through using supplements (even though we all know that is an alibi used by cheating athletes).
