Creatine use will increase water rentention, but overall it may help your performance in the gym when on a cut.

Some studies suggest that creatine supplementation inhibits lipolysis (fat burning), here's an example from the Journal of Exercise Physiology: - http://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl...%22fat+loss%22

Personally I only take creatine on training days if I'm cutting.
