The soreness is known as Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) and usually occurs 24 hours or so after a workout session. It is not an indicator of a hard workout though, which is pretty obvious as you can get it running, cycling, swimming etc aswell, though these wont lead to muscle growth! It is thought to be caused by small microtears in the muscle tissue and generally becomes less as you get used to the exercises you are doing. |
