Right so stu has said upright rows are shit, but he hasn't explained why or given you an altrnative, thats helpful isnt it, what a suprise!.

shoulder presses infront and behind neck work well for me you say theese dont cause discomfort so just stick to theese they are good exercisses if form is good.
