Oxoralen which belongs to the furocumarin group of organic chemical compounds is a very potent photosensitizing agent. When combined with exposure to long wave ultra-violet rays. This is to be followed two hours later by exposure to sunlight or artificial ultraviolet light as peak blood levels of Methoxsalen are reached between 1/4 to 3 hours after ingestion.
