Now what was the question...........sorry got a little distracted.
Eating anything every 2 hours will speed up your metabolism fruit is good because it contains few calories drinking half a pint of skimmed milk would probably work just as well but not these health snack bars they have way too much sugar in them. So try and have 3 meals a day low fat and eat fruit every 2 hours in between. But to be honest i've never dieted to loose fat in my life, i'm not into the ripped abbs thing I just want to be as big as possible though i don't let my fat level get too high. Jason knows more about this than me i'll pm him and get him to take a look.
As for exercise swimming is excellent go with kev it may help his elbow probs, brisk walking is good too or cycling.
