Hmmmm, I agree with you benj to a point but there is a way he can do some of both. BBers do as you state as in, bulk first then strip the excess fat as we know how.

I think if you start by getting the diet sorted so you are getting just enough protein/ carbs & fat for your current bodyweight and keep at that rate (do not calculate in the amount of activity, just the basics). Then as you are training you will build up muscle while loosing fat as you go, not extreme amounts but if you keep it going for say 6 months you should have your waist down to the size you want.
The way to do this is to train BB for 45 mins then go and do some cardio for 15-20 4 times a week.
Then you can look at building yourself up properly by adding more protien & carbs.
PS Stay away from the fatty/ sugary food as much as possible ______________________
