Hi Joed, there are so many supplements out there, my advice (for wot its worth) would be to identify your goals first (build muscle, lose weight, fitness... ) then you can see what would be benificial to you.

also on the age thing, I sometimes train with a guy who is 49 and I stuggle to keep up with him. yeah, he's been training for years but he still makes gains.
